Varsity Golf

The Harding Golf Team competed in the 2008 State Championship.

While the Team didn’t fair well on day one, Ryan DuLaney shot a 70 to take the lead into day two.  Then the powers at TSSAA gave Ryan the shaft, and I mean the high hard one.  He was not allowed to to play with the 2nd-4th place golfers.  He was placed in the last group with golfers that shot 79, 82 and 87. 

This decision was made by Ronnie Cater, Director of TSSAA.  He is not a nice guy and not frindly to the golfers.  He would rather the TSSAA help determine the state champ rather than letting the best golfers go at it one on one.  There is no golf tournament where the leaders don’t play together.

Sorry for the posting delay.  Even I don’t read this web site much!

To get you up to date, the boys had a great time at the Hardin County Tournament.  I think we finished 12th, but I know it was not last.

We beat Rossville, then lost twice to SBEC.

On September 18, 2008, we beat TRA at Fox Meadows.

To date, our record is 11 - 33.  That is a .250 batting average, so our contracts should be renewed for two more years.  Endorsments are pending.

Next match is Monday, Sept. 22, 2008 vs St. Francis.

Harding Golf wins!

At Stonebridge…

The Harding Golf Team will travel to Pickwick State Park this weekend for the Hardin County H.S. Tournament, 9/7 and 9/8.

Our practice time Sunday morning is 8:00 due to a tournament there Sunday Afternoon.   The lodging Sunday night is provided by Harding Golf.  Everything else (food Etc.) you will have to provide for.

Our next match will be a 4:00 pm Tuesday against Tipton-Rosemark Academy.  It will be held at Stonebridge Golf Course.  Come join the fun. 

Mr. Dan Burdette will be singing the National Anthem prior to tee off.  Please contact Mr. Burdette and thank him for his support of the Golf Team!

The Spartan Invitational was held Thursday at T. O. Fuller State Park.  Our guys finished 12th with a score of 351. 

The positives form the match were:

1. The guys got out of school at 11:10 am
2. No one got lost
3. Harding is the best 0-4 team in the city

The Harding Cheer Team attended the match today.  It was really interesting to experience “golf cheers” and the signs were extra special.  Several “you da man” and “get in the hole” and “Coach Daniel is da Bomb” cheers echoed around the course.  The girls presence really gave the team the home field advantage.

However, we lost again.  Some of the girls cheered because they thought high score wins. The gallery rumbled that Harding is the best 0-3 team in the city.

The match with FACS will be held at The Links of Galloway. Tee time is 3:50…don’t be late.

The qualifying for the match Tuesday August 26, 2008 against FACS will be held at Memphis National on Monday, August 25, 2008.  Tee time is 3:48.  Don’t be late.

The other golfers not qualifying will be on the practice range.
