REACH Program

Reaching out… one mind at a time

The REACH program was implemented in 2004 in order to assist students in Reaching their potential, for not only gaining knowledge but also for developing the skills needed for managing well the complexities of the learning environment. We are committed to helping students succeed who both can and want to graduate from Harding Academy.

The REACH Program:

  • serves students with mild learning challenges in grades 7-12, with a maximum of 12 students per grade. Students in grades 11 and 12 must have a diagnosed learning challenge.
  • provides individualized educational support in the core-subjects within the school day to students who struggle academically. REACH is an inclusion program. Students meet daily with REACH teacher during homeroom or study hall times. A math teacher is present during 7th period study hall.
  • evaluates student progress on a regular basis in order to see if goals are being met. Continuous diagnosis of strengths and weaknesses takes place. Encouragement is given for effort and progress.
  • is a team effort. The REACH teachers, subject area teachers, parents, and students work together to provide early intervention for academic concerns and to pursue solutions that will maximize students’ potential for success.
  • emphasizes the importance of communication. Parents are required to have email access in order to have on-going communication with REACH teacher.
  • provides accommodations such as oral, un-timed, or isolated testing as deemed necessary.
  • offers 4:1 math classes for an additional cost.
