Records Set at County Swim Meet

From the High School county Swimming Championship meet:

James Townsdin and Alyssa Hale

James Townsdin and Alyssa Hale

Alyssa Hale: county champion (first place) in the 100 butterfly and the 100 breaststroke. She also set a new Shelby County record in the 100 breaststroke.

James Townsdin: county champion (first place) in the 50 breaststroke and the 100 breaststroke. He also set new Shelby County records in both the 50 breaststroke and the 100 breaststroke.

Since Alyssa set the women’s 50 breaststroke record last week, that means that Harding now holds all the records in all the breaststroke events for Shelby County!

Both James and Alyssa (and Harding) got a very nice paragraph in Sunday's Commercial Appeal sports section. See Lions in the News.

From the Middle School meet:

Lizzie Wooton: county champion (first place) in the 100 Individual Medley, 50 breast stroke, and 50 butterfly; Isabelle Van Duren: competed in the 50 free and improved her seed position by 17 places, shaving off over 2 seconds from her previous time.

Also, the Harding Middle School team placed second in the small teams female division and fifteenth in the combined small teams division.

James Townsdin and Alyssa Hale who both qualified for the state swim meet which will be in Knoxville Thursday through Saturday, February, 12–14.
