Ellis Haguewood ‘63 Speaks in Chapel

Mr. Ellis Haguewood '63 was the second chapel speaker in our 60th anniversary Legacy Series. Mr. Haguewood began as a Harding student at age seven in the second grade when the school met in the Highland Street Church of Christ building as Memphis Christian School. He has fond memories of his time at Harding such as singing and traveling with the A cappella chorus, delivering food baskets to needy families in North Memphis, and attending Mr. Barnes's ninth grade Civics class and Mr. Key's seventh grade Bible class. He was part of the group that was able to help choose the school colors, school mascot, and the name of the year book. His number one memory at Harding Academy was meeting his wife, Peggy. He challenged the upper school students not to forget God and not to forget the people who had the vision to begin this Christian school.
Mr. Haguewood is pictured left with Harding's president, Mr. Trent Williamson. Mr. Haguewood is currently the headmaster of Memphis University School.
