Esprit de Corps 2008
The Harding family celebrated a wonderful evening and all that is Harding on Friday night at the 2008 Esprit de Corps dinner. Our music program was highlighted through performances by the sixth grade recorder ensemble and the Acappella chorus ensemble. The evening began with the Esprit de Corps Art Show featuring artwork by Harding students from grades EC2 through twelve. Five alumni visual artists were also featured. Harding speech teacher and alumnus Steve Williford hosted the celebration as emcee for the evening and was joined by seniors Ty Black, Hugh Archibald, and Charli Shelby who shared their personal appreciation for the Christ-centered education they have received at Harding.
Retired Director of NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, Mr. Gene Thomas, connected with our school mission in sharing his personal testimony of how his faith in God sustained him through the tragic events surrounding the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion in 1986. Mr. Luther Welch received the 2008 Esprit de Corps Award. In 1950, Mr. Welch was among the first individuals to pledge money toward the formation of Memphis Christian School, which later became Harding Academy of Memphis.
